Path

Three kilometers far from Manfredonia, towards SW, reach the Archaeological Park of Siponto.

From Siponto, take the National Road in the direction of Foggia (39 Km). When you reach Foggia, take the external ring in order to avoid crossing the city center, and take the road for Lucera.

Reach the country settlement at the cross-road between the “tratturo Biccari” and the road connecting Lucera and Troia. The archaeological excavations of San Giusto are located near the dam.

Take again the road for Foggia, enter the external ring until the National Road for Canosa (35 km).

Description

In Siponto, you may visit the Archaeological Park, with the ruins of the Roman town, the paleochristian basilica and its mosaics, and the Romanesque church of Santa Maria Maggiore, with other mosaics coming from the near basilica.

In San Giusto, the excavations allowed to discover an important paleochristian complex rich of mosaics, connected with a rural settlement, nearby a roman villa.

In Canosa, it's possible to visit the baptistery of Saint John (Battistero di San Giovanni), to the east of the town, and the basilica of San Leucio, easily accessibile by a well indicated little road starting from the road for Andria.
